Pastor Jim Davis was called to join the pastoral staff of Grace Bible Church in September of 2002, upon Pastor Jenkins’ retirement. He and his wife Lori moved from Marshall, Texas where they served at Faith Bible Church. Jim Davis was born in Big Spring, Texas in 1954 and received Christ at an early age. Although he was raised in Colorado City, he moved to San Marcos in the fall of 1972 to attend Southwest Texas University, and there he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During this time, Jim began attending University Bible Church (now Grace Bible Church), and taught Sunday elective classes for college and mixed adults. He also organized and taught independent Bible studies on the SWT campus.
As he ministered during these years, God began to give Jim a deep passion for expounding His word and proclaiming the gospel. Jim knew it was God’s word that transformed lives, and felt the Lord’s call upon his heart to become a pastor. In August 1986, Pastor Davis became licensed to preach at Calvary Baptist Church in his hometown of Colorado City. Jim then attended Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1990 he completed a masters degree at Dallas Theological Seminary, the Thm with emphasis on Systematic Theology. While pastor at Faith Bible Church in Spring, Texas, Pastor Davis became involved in foreign mission work. He served for six years as Bible professor at Moldova Bible Seminary in Moldova, teaching theology and hermeneutics. Moldova, an independent country, was formerly part of the USSR.
